Founded in 2023, the Roaring Hills Theatre Company was established under the name the New Littleton Theatre Company (NLTC). We set out with a goal to provide Littleton, and surrounding communities, with the opportunity to participate in and experience live theatre through productions and events. Our first production was William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream performed outdoors by a cast of all Littleton High School Drama Alumni. Our board is comprised of a handful of these alumni and we have worked to rename our company and expand our offerings.
Littleton, MA is a town rich in Native American history. Prior to becoming the town we know, Littleton was the Praying Indian Plantation of Nashoba [also spelled Nashobah]. Notably on this Plantation is Nashoba Hill, a landmark the Nashoba Praying Indians considered hollow, from which strange "rumblings" were heard. The Native Americans believed that winds were trapped within Nashoba Hill and created loud roaring sounds. Without the intervention of the Nashoba shamans, the hill may have opened up and revealed the dark innards of the Earth.
To show our respect for the Native lands we perform on and highlight the history of Littleton, MA and the Nashoba Praying Indians, we officially named our group Roaring Hills Theatre Company.
